In addition to the existing The International Grown Diamond Association (IGDA), a new association for Lab-grown diamonds – Lab Grown Diamond Council (LGDC) has been formed in New York, USA by two veterans of jewelry industry.
Former publisher of National Jeweler – Chris Casey, and Director of Silver Institute’s Silver Promotion Service – Michael Barlerin will act as LGDC’s President and Chairman respectively. LGDC has been formed to raise awareness, spread knowledge and increase demand for Lab-grown diamonds.
Chris Casey said “LGDC has been established to create a unified voice to maximize the growth of Lab grown diamonds… Our intent is to provide members with the tools they need to continue to drive the growth of this revolutionary product.”
“Many leading companies in the Lab grown market have approached me over the last year regarding the need for focused, research-based messaging on advocacy, communications and education of the unique offering of lab-grown diamonds… The LGDC creates the platform to both develop and deliver on these needs.” said Michael Barlerin.
LGDC’s membership is open to all companies who are either present or contemplating an entry in the Lab-grown diamond sector. LGDC’s membership has various categories – Lab-grown diamond producers (growers), Equipment manufacturers, Suppliers, Retailers and Associates.
LGDC aims to create an international communications program and will be launching a series of new initiatives to support Lab-grown diamond market, including research services, focus on retail performance and consumer attitudes, social media consumer outreach and clarification of industry sustainability backed by third party verification.
